DORSET GROUP
Welcome to the Dorset Group of the Hardy Plant Society. We are a group of gardening enthusiasts, of all levels of expertise, who enjoy listening to excellent speakers, growing and buying plants, and visiting beautiful gardens and nurseries. To find out more about us and our history, go to the About Us menu.
Although we have a special interest in hardy perennials, of course we also enjoy all other types of plants in our gardens. We hold 7 speaker meetings per year at Colehill Village Hall, usually on the 4th Saturday of the month, for January to April and September to November, with doors opening at 1.45pm ready for the start of the talk at 2.30pm. In that 45 minutes you can get a drink and a piece of home made cake, buy some plants, a raffle ticket or two, and check the Events table and perhaps sign up to some of our day trips or even our 4 day holiday. Sometimes our speaker brings plants for sale too, and these are sold after the talk. We encourage our members to propagate and grow their own plants for sale to other members and the public. These can then be sold at
We are one of the local groups of the Hardy Plant Society, which is a registered charity, whose aims include stimulating interest in growing hardy perennials. In 1998 just 21 members broke away from the Hampshire Group, forming the Dorset Group. Our 'Celebrity Talk' last December
