Welcome to the Dorset Group of the Hardy Plant Society. We are a group of keen gardeners, with all levels of knowledge and experience, who enjoy listening to excellent speakers, growing and buying plants, and visiting beautiful gardens and nurseries. To find out more about our history, go to the About Us menu.
The Hardy Plant Society itself is a national charity with a special interest in hardy perennials. Our local group is an independent and ‘not for profit’ entity, but registered with the Hardy Plant Society and with the same aims.
Although we has a special interest in hardy perennials, of course, we also enjoy all other types of plants in our gardens.
We hold seven speaker meetings per year at Colehill Village Hall, sometimes our speakers bring plants for sale too. We have our own Plant Fair in May, and run trips during the summer months to interesting gardens both close to us and further afield, some of which are not normally open to the public.
Many of our members propagate and grow their own plants. These can be donated to us for our plant sales table where monies raised go into our funds towards speakers and other events. Alternatively, members can sell them and profit from their efforts. Plants are sold at
