We welcome visitors to our meetings with talks, entrance fee £4.

• We meet to hear a range of speakers from January to April, then September to November. The summer we have 'off' to perhaps enjoy our own - or other - gardens and plants sales including our own 'Plant Fair' in May.
• Generally, our speaker meetings are on the 4th Saturday of the month (unless affected by Bank Holidays etc so please check). All meetings are held at the Colehill Village Hall, Wimborne BH21 2LR.
• Doors open at 1.45pm ready for the talks ​to start promptly at 2.30 pm, unless otherwise indicated.

2025

Saturday 25th January
'Boggery In the Garden' with Timothy Walker
This talk was put together following the renovation and extension of the Bog Garden at the University Botanic Garden. Water adds an extra sensory dimension to a garden in addition to extending the range of plants that one can cultivate. The talk begins by looking at the types of water feature and then goes on to explain how the new pond was built in the Botanic Garden and a much smaller pond in our new garden. Emphasis will be placed on the plants that can be grown in a water garden – the “boggery” of the title.

Saturday 22nd February
'The Art of Dishevelment' with Charles Chesshire
Our February speaker is Charles Chesshire, a garden designer and
rare plant specialist based near Bridport. Charles has designed gardens in the US, Europe and the Middle East and his talk is entitled “The Art of Dishevelment”, focussing on the levels of control we choose to exert over our gardens - a fascinating and unusual subject!

'Attracting Beneficial Insects' with Rosy Hardy of Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants

Saturday 26th April
'Fuchsias My Way' with Derek Dexter
The talk will start with a hands on demonstration on how easy it is to grow fuchsias. Then go into a slide show with more tips and explanation of how to care for your fuchsias.

"I have been growing and showing Fuchsias since 1998 and have been very fortunate to have won a few 1st prizes. In 2004 I joined the BFS the British Fuchsia Society where they have 8 championship shows in the county each year. This is where I came up against the brilliant fuchsias growers, and we started to beat them.
I've also been lucky enough to exhibit at Hampton Court flower show. Where we have won bronze medals and silver medals, and the very last year we won a silver gilt medal."
